HERE IS A LIST OF THE MANY MINISTRIES THAT SUSTAIN OUR PARISH. EVERY MINISTRY DEPENDS UPON A HOST OF VOLUNTEERS. PLEASE CONSIDER SHARING YOUR TIME AND TALENT.
THE PARISH COUNCIL A LAY ADVISORY COMMITTEE, ASSISTS THE PASTOR AND THE PARISH STAFF CONCERNING THE CURRENT AND FUTURE NEEDS OF THE PARISH, PARTICULARLY AS TO THE SPIRITUAL LIFE OF OUR CONGREGATION.
THE FINANCE COMMITTEE A LAY ADVISORY COMMITTEE, WHICH INCLUDES TWO PARISH TRUSTEES, ASSISTS THE PASTOR IN THE FINANCIAL ASPECTS OF THE CHURCH. THE OUTREACH MINISTRY THE OUTREACH MINISTRY SEEKS TO LIVE OUT OUR CALL TO SERVE OUR NEIGHBOR. WE CAN DO THIS BY SIMPLY BEING MINDFUL IN OUR PRAYERS OF THOSE FOLKS IN OUR PARISH COMMUNITY WHO ARE HAVING AN ESPECIALLY DIFFICULT TiME. WITH OPEN HEART AND OPEN HANDS WE STRIVE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR PARISH AND LOCAL COMMUNITY AND BEYOND. THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS WE SERVE:
THE BRIDGEHAMPTON COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY, LOCATED IN THE BH COMMUNITY HOUSE, AND OPEN EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM 10AM -1PM, DISTRIBUTES FOOD TO LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED. CHURCHES IN THE AREA ROTATE ONCE A MONTH. SOME OF OUR PARISHIONERS VOLUNTEER EVERY WEEK. THERE IS A BASKET IN THE BACK OF THE CHURCH FOR FOOD DONATIONS.
ADVENT GIVING TREE. FOR YEARS OUR GIVING TREE HAS PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARISHIONERS TO COLLECT AND DONATE CLOTHING, TOYS AND GIFT CARDS FOR THE RETREAT OR MAUREEN'S HAVEN .
REMEMBRANCES AT THANKSGIVING FLORAL BOUQUETS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST A LOVED ONE DURING THE PAST YEAR.
WINTER COAT DRIVE FOR THE HOMELESS IN SUFFOLK COUNTY.
VISITS TO THE HOMEBOUND, AND THOSE WHO ARE IN A HOSPITAL OR NURSING HOME; WITH SOME PARISHIONERS SERVING AS EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS.
Maureen's Haven Each month, parishioners from QMHR partner with St. Ann's Episcopal Church in organizing a Winter Shelter Dinner program for guests from Maureen's Haven. These dinners are held at St. Ann's and occur on the third Tuesday of the month. Below photos are from the January dinner displaying the dining table as well as volunteer's Alvaro Sampaio and Victor Pandini who prepared the delicious meal. Behind the scenes thanks to Lourdes Sandoval for making beds as along with Jen Vinski, for laundering the linens: Andrea Madaio for setting up the snack table; Susan Barbieri for making lunch bags and to Joan Miller for serving breakfast. This is a wonderful opportunity to help those in need on the East End. If you're interested in learning more about this outreach program, please email Linda Sclafani at [email protected].
LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
A LITURGY COMMITTEE WORKS WITH THE PASTOR AND PASTORAL ASSISTANT TO MAKE OUR LITURGICAL CELEBRATIONS THROUGHOUT THE SEASONS OF THE CHURCH YEAR MORE MEANINGFUL FOR THE CONGREGATION.
THE ALTAR SOCIETY CREATES AN ORDERLY AND ATTRACTIVE ALTAR, ARRANGES THE FLOWERS AND CLEANS THE SANCTUARY.
ALTAR SERVERS ASSIST THE PRIEST AT MASS, WEDDINGS, FUNERALS AND OTHER LITURGICAL SERVICES. TRAINING IS PROVIDED FOR BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS AS WELL AS ADULT MEN AND WOMEN.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS ASSIST WITH THE DISTRIBUTION OF HOLY COMMUNION AT ALL MASSES; BRING THE EUCHARIST TO PARISHIONERS WHO ARE HOMEBOUND, IN THE HOSPITAL OR NURSING HOMES. CANDIDATES FOR THIS MINISTRY MUST BE PRACTICING BAPTIZED CATHOLICS, MEMBERS OF THE PARISH, APPROVED BY THE PASTOR, AND TAKE A ONE DAY TRAINING SESSION WHICH IS GIVEN BY THE DIOCESE.
LECTORS, OR MINISTERS OF THE WORD, PROCLAIM THE READINGS FROM SCRIPTURE AT THE MASSES; LEAD THE CONGREGATION IN THE "PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL;" AND MAKE THE WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS.
USHERS AND GREETERS CREATE A WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE WHEN PARISHIONERS ENTER THE CHURCH. THEY HELP PEOPLE FIND A SEAT, INVITE PEOPLE TO PRESENT THE GIFTS AT THE OFFERTORY, COLLECT THE OFFERINGS AND DISTRIBUTE THE BULLETIN AT THE CONCLUSION OF MASS.
FAITH FORMATION
THE RITE OF CHRISTIANINITIATION OF ADULTS IS FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC OR WHO HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE SACRAMENTS OF HOLY EUCHARIST AND CONFIRMATION. ANY PARISHIONER WHO WISHES TO DEEPEN HIS OR HER FAITH IS WELCOME TO JOIN THE RCIA AND ACCOMPANY THOSE PREPARING FOR THE SACRAMENT OF INITIATION.
.THE MUSIC MINISTRY HAS BEEN GREATLY ENHANCED BY THE ACQUISITION OF THE CHARLOTTE ROGERS SMITH PIPE ORGAN. THE PIPE ORGAN ACCOMPANIES THE CONGREGATION IN THE LITURGICAL RESPONSES AT THE 5PMSATURDAY MASS. OUR TALENTED GUITARISTS LEAD THE CONGREGATIONAL SINGING AT THE 10:00 A.M MASSES. IN ADDITION TO OUR ANNUAL ADVENT "LESSONS AND CAROLS," A MORE EXTENSIVE MINISTRY IS PLANNED TO ENRICH ALL LITURGICAL CELEBRATIONS. WE HOPE TO START A CHILDREN'S CHOIR IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
THE VISION COMMITTEE SEEKS WAYS TO STRENGTHEN THE EXISTING MINISTRIES AT QMHR, TO FACILITATE COMMUNICATION , AND TO GENERATE NEW INITIATIVES TO ENHANCE THE LIFE OF THE PARISH. RECENT INITIATIVES INCLUDE THE CREATION OF A STEWARDSHIP BOOKLET; THE PURCHASE OF THE CHARLOTTE ROGERS SMITH PIPE ORGAN; A SUCCESSFUL SUMMER BENEFIT TO PAINT AND RESTORE THE CHURCH; THE CREATION OF A THRIFT SHOP WHICH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE FINANCIAL WELL BEING OF THE PARISH. THE VISION COMMITTEE WELCOMES NEW IDEAS AND INITIATIVES!
